Jackson Brundage

Nine-year old Jackson Brundage loves basketball, pizza, and video games just like any other kid his age. But, what makes this little guy different is that he has been acting since the age of five, when he landed a supporting role in the 2006 feature, Lime Salted Love.

Brundage has since found continued success and can currently be seen on the CW series One Tree Hill, portraying the loveable character of James “Jamie” Lucas Scott, the son of Nathan Scott and Haley James Scott. The show films in Wilmington, North Carolina, and has recently been renewed for an eighth season.

"I think that people should donate their money because these kids aren’t getting nutrients and stuff from foods that normal kids can get."

This adorable, talented thespian’s other acting credits include guest starring on the NBC series Las Vegas, as well as lending his voice to the Walt Disney Production of Einstein Pals in the role of Pablo. He also recently appeared on the CBS police procedural drama NCIS starring Mark Harmon.

Brundage currently resides just outside of Los Angeles with his family unless on location filming in North Carolina.

Melissa Parker (Smashing Interviews Magazine): Jackson, what do you like most about acting?

Jackson Brundage: I like all of the different people I get to meet and have gotten to work with.

Melissa Parker (Smashing Interviews Magazine): What do you enjoy most about working on One Tree Hill?

Jackson Brundage: I enjoy all of the great people. We’re all one big happy family. We have a great time together.

Melissa Parker (Smashing Interviews Magazine): Have you formed any close relationships with the actors?

Jackson Brundage: Oh yeah, lots of relationships. It has been really awesome being the only kid on the show because all of my castmates make it fun all of the time. We hang out when we’re not working, but we also have tons of fun during work.

Melissa Parker (Smashing Interviews Magazine): Do you play basketball together?

Jackson Brundage: Yeah.

Melissa Parker (Smashing Interviews Magazine): Is that one of your favorite things to do?

Jackson Brundage: Yeah, I like basketball. We also have pizza nights, we play video games and watch movies.

Melissa Parker (Smashing Interviews Magazine): Do you have any storyline ideas for your character?

Jackson Brundage: Well, I think it’s time for Jamie to have a little girlfriend. I don’t think he’s too young and all of the other characters started out young. I’d also love to play more basketball and be in a kid’s league on the show.

Melissa Parker (Smashing Interviews Magazine): Do you have a girlfriend?

Jackson Brundage: Yes I do.

Melissa Parker (Smashing Interviews Magazine): Is she the same age?

Jackson Brundage: Yeah.

Melissa Parker (Smashing Interviews Magazine): Did you meet her in school?

Jackson Brundage: No, she’s actually my sister’s friend’s little sister.

Melissa Parker (Smashing Interviews Magazine): I see. What was it like to work with Mark Harmon on NCIS?

Jackson Brundage: It was great. Mark Harmon is a really nice guy. Getting to find a dead body was awesome (laughs).

Melissa Parker (Smashing Interviews Magazine): Would you like to continue acting when you grow up?

Jackson Brundage: I definitely look forward to seeing where acting takes me, maybe into directing, producing … who knows? College is a big ‘Yes.’ Education is very important to me.

Melissa Parker (Smashing Interviews Magazine): Is your family supportive of your acting career?

Jackson Brundage: Yeah, they support me all of the time. My mom normally travels with me. Last season my brother and sister sometimes traveled with me. My dad comes to visit because he has work here.

Melissa Parker (Smashing Interviews Magazine): Is your dad an actor?

Jackson Brundage: He’s actually not in acting, but he does do post production.

Melissa Parker (Smashing Interviews Magazine): What is your favorite subject in school?

Jackson Brundage: I like science because I like working with the human body, seeing how all of the organs and intestines work, the experiments and stuff.

Melissa Parker (Smashing Interviews Magazine): It sounds like you may want to become a doctor.

Jackson Brundage: Yeah, that would be really cool.

Melissa Parker (Smashing Interviews Magazine): How did you get interested in martial arts?

Jackson Brundage: When I was about four (close to five), I said to my mom, “Can I do karate?” She said, “Sure, let’s sign you up.” Right down the hill from my house is a karate studio so I went there for two years.

Melissa Parker (Smashing Interviews Magazine): So, you like martial arts and basketball. What’s your favorite video game?

Jackson Brundage: I like Call of Duty on the Xbox 360.

Melissa Parker (Smashing Interviews Magazine): What are your favorite foods?

Jackson Brundage: I like pizza, spaghetti, macaroni and cheese, ice cream … all of the junk foods.

Melissa Parker (Smashing Interviews Magazine): Tell me about the charity you are involved with.

Jackson Brundage: I’m mostly involved in a foundation called CURED. It’s for kids who have a disease and they can’t eat regular food. Some who just get it can’t eat food at all. They have to have a special chemical drink. The disease is called Eosinophilic.

Melissa Parker (Smashing Interviews Magazine): Why is it important for people to give of their time and money to this charity?

Jackson Brundage: This is the most important event that I’ve ever been to and I’ve done it two years in a row. I think that people should donate their money because these kids aren’t getting nutrients and stuff from foods that normal kids can get.

Melissa Parker (Smashing Interviews Magazine): If you could play one character on the big or small screen, who would it be?

Jackson Brundage: I’d like to play Jackie Chan. I have all 3 Rush Hour movies. I really like action and comedy.
