Born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, Anne Rice is perhaps best known for her series of novels, The Vampire Chronicles, revolving around the fictional character Lestat de Lioncourt, a French nobleman turned into a vampire in the 18th century. She published her debut novel, Interview with the Vampire, in 1976. Books from The Vampire Chronicles were the subject of two film adaptations, Interview with the Vampire in 1994, and Queen of the Damned in 2002. The Vampire Chronicles have been optioned by Paramount and Anonymous Content for an upcoming TV series.

Rice has written in the romance genre, and his debut novel, A Density of Souls, was published when he was just 22 years old. He is the son of famed vampire chronicler Anne Rice and the late poet Stan Rice.
